For so many years I’ve never had close Malay friends that I can borak with.  My primary school days was good as I had a lot of Malay friends and also partly because I can’t speak Cantonese back then and only uses Bahasa most of the time. When secondary school came, the segregation came. My school was predominantly Chinese and the Malays are few. But I’m thankful also because this is the period where I pick up and brush up my Cantonese. How can being a KL-ian and don’t know Cantonese. How to cari makan.

And now, since I work in my new company, most of my collegues are Malay and in my department I’m the only Chinese.

The funny thing was what happened last week. On Friday as all of the Muslims will go for their prayer during lunch time, I ajak some of my Chinese collegues for makan at Klang. Bak Kut Teh lar – at Mun Teng’s bro in law’s mum’s shop in Taman Berkeley.

Funnily, one of my malay collegue wanted to follow last minute. He wanted to ’skip’ the prayers and follow us. Then we thought ok lar, just go to some mamak or McD, but he says its ok. He says he has eaten heavy breakfast earlier.  He insist on going..Haha…

He was with us when we were savouring the delightful Bak Kut Teh and he enjoyed the chinese tea. This is 1 Malaysia.

I am not a reckless driver. I seldom and almost never curse at drivers on the road. But I do admit sometimes I drive dangerously. Impatiently. However, I want to thank God that in this 4 to 5 years since I started driving, there hasn’t been any major accidents that I’ve involved in. Nor I’ve been hit badly.

However, my bro did wreck my car before. It was during the time when I was part timing in his firm and he was on the driver’s seat. He rammed the side of my precious Iswara, ripping off the side bumper and part of back bumper also. Apedey….

The other incident was in Serdang when I was finding parking along the KFC road. This car bang me, but my car nothing. Seriously nothing. You call it the grace of God of not, it is really a miracle. Because the same Iswara that bang me, his car front bumper was all crushed and drop onto the floor. I pleaded nothing. But that smart friend of mine Mr. J nearly got into a fight when he insisted of getting some compensation for the trauma he has gone through. The guy who bang me is in the wrong anyway. Luckily police came and settled the thing.

There are also a few times when I turn suddenly during a traffic jam without looking at the rear mirror or signal, a motorcyclist nearly hit my car, or just miss by a few inches of my car. God knows what happened if they really hit me during those times.

There was also this once in Jalan Gasing after a heavy downpour when I was speeding down the road and then suddenly the car which is approx 100 meters of me brake. I saw, I brake, but the brake functioned, but my car tyre didn’t have the grip on the road. I swerve and swerve and for a few seconds thinking I will surely hit the car in front. But thank God that behind me there was no car, I was able took control of the car and just misses the car in front. Walioweh………….

I thank God for protecting me on the road.

Deloitte is top now!!!!

Vault.com has recently published its list of 40 Most Prestigious Accounting Firms for the yar 2009, the latest ranking which was started back in 2005.

The top companies were listed according to a survey conducted by a number of participating research companies, which questionnaires to employees in the selected firms to evaluate about each of the company’s rating.

The series of questions asked the respondent to assess the life of the employees in their current firm (or previous ones) and rate their company according to some specific prestige scores. More than 1,000 respondents participated in the survey every year.

Not surprisingly, the top four of the table were occupied by the Big 4 accounting firms, namely Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Ernst & Young (EY) and KPMG. But this is the first time in four years Deloitte has managed to secure top spot, displacing former number one, PwC into second place.

At 5th position, Grant Thornton is the highest ranked firm coming from the non-Big-4 group. The company provides tax services, advisory, consulting and assurance to privately-held entities and public companies across the world.

All these years I’ve been living in the ‘no confrontation’ life as much as possible. Well, I have a little experience of myself where my temper overtook me. At home, it is a norm for me as a kid. To throw tantrum. But in public I behave as much as I can. I have only one of these incident where 2 of these malay boys was teasing me for whatever reason I could not remember. Of course a fight nearly broke out. I couldn’t remember what happened after that or the outcome of it. All I can remember there were a hot confrontation between me and the 2 guys.

That is why sometimes I often didn’t pint point people’s mistake. Maybe I just don’t want confrontation. Or maybe I felt if I told them about their mistakes, they might get embarresed. Is not that I don’t care. I truly genuinely don’t want the other party to feel embarresed of their mistakes.

This goes to the extent of people doing wrong things. A lot of things and events that I’ve encountered which some of the practices or acts which i totally don’t agree. But I just let it be.

Maybe it is time for me to speak UP!!!
